Singapore - the shopping and eating mecca of Asia; where a diverse population of 5.3 million Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians and Peranakans live alongside each other, sharing a love of food and heritage. Singaporeans recently celebrated their state's 50th year of independence in what is now one of the world's fastest growing economies.
The diversity of Singapore is best symbolised by the food it is famous for:- the famous Chilli or if you prefer Black Pepper crab, Indian Fish Head Curry, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Malay Laksa and Nasi Lamak, Carrot Cake (actually a noodle dish with no carrot!) and the wondrous miracle that is the Satay Stick with peanut sauce. The latter so ubiquitous a Singaporean dish they named a club after it. Satay Club first sprung up in the 1940's and has moved since its original incarnation - now named Satay by the Bay, a magical spot to enjoy local Singaporean food by the water after walk through the beautiful Gardens by the Bay.
Ah Singapore - so efficient, where trains run on time, where Changi Int airport frequently is awarded "best airport in the world" status due to its compliance with strict performance targets, and where you can could probably eat somewhere different everyday for 10 years and never go to the same place twice. Yes it's clean and safe but don't let that fool you into thinking this isn't a fun city. Aside from the buzzing hawker centres scattered all over Singapore, there's plenty of partying to be done in bars and clubs not to mention all the playtime the kids can have over on Sentosa. Tip - Universal Studios has an express pass available for purchase @ $50 - skip straight to the front of the ride queues.

If your feet are tired after days of shopping, just jump in a cab - there are 30,000 of them in Singapore and they will get you anywhere fast and cheaply.
