For years now, Vietnam has been a favourite destination for travellers from around the globe. Full of rich history, temples, beaches, stunning scenery, mouth-watering food and buzzing markets, Vietnam is a traveller’s dream. And for all of the women out there looking for their next solo destination - Vietnam ticks all the boxes! Eat, pray, (shop) and love your heart out in beautiful Vietnam!

Ho Chi Minh City is a must

You can’t go to Vietnam without spending time in Ho Chi Minh City. Whether you choose to use this bustling metropolis as your starting point, or prefer to travel from north to south and save Ho Chi Minh City for the end of your trip, be sure to spend 2-4 days here to soak up all of the sights and culture. Commonly known as Saigon, this southern city is full of French colonial architecture, the famous Bến Thành Market, fabulous food and endless people-watching - everything solo travellers need to keep themselves easily entertained. Tip: Stay at the Rex Hotel Saigon and enjoy gorgeous nighttime city views from their top floor restaurant.

    Ancient Hội An

For a change of pace from cosmopolitan Ho Chi Minh City, travel north to experience the old-world charm of Hội An. As a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ancient Town, Hội An is a delightful mix of Chinese, French and Japanese architecture. For solo travellers, Hội An is a friendly, easy to navigate town with a calm, quiet beach area. If that’s not enough, Hội An is a fabulous place to have customised clothing made. Formerly a trading port on the silk route, Hội An is known for its 400+ tailors so you’ll be certain to find just the right fit for you. Who wouldn’t want to come back from a vacation with a new customized wardrobe! Tip: If flying into Da Nang airport, hire a driver to go to Hội An and choose customised stops throughout the area.

    Hanoi

When travelling to Vietnam, you can’t miss the colonial charm of Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi. Hanoi offers something for even the most discerning traveller, including world famous temples,  authentic Vietnamese cooking classes, bustling shopping areas and beautiful scenery. Shop your heart out in the Old Quarter, spend time with the locals walking around Hoàn Kiếm Lake, or join a group tour to visit some of the country’s oldest places of worship such as the Tran Quoc Pagoda. Dating back to the 6th century, it’s the oldest of its kind in Hanoi. Tip: Although Tran Quoc Pagoda is free to visit all year long, it is packed during annual festivals so be sure to check the calendar before scheduling a visit.

    Hạ Long Bay

Cruising along the pristine waters in Ha Long Bay is the perfect way to wrap up your trip to Vietnam. Immerse yourself in the unforgettable beauty of the area and take advantage of the opportunity to connect with other travellers looking for the same experience. While on the boat, you will be able to relax in your own cabin, or socialize on deck and soak up a wealth of local knowledge from the boat’s crew.  Tip: Splurge for a single cabin on a higher end cruise to avoid the backpacker/ party scene.
