What is Ikat? Cambodians have been using Ikat techniques since the times of the Angkor Dynasty. Intricate Cambodian ikats are world renowned; the word Ikat mans to tie or to bind. Ikat is the method of creating patterns by dying hanks of thread tied with fiber resists. It can take up to several days to produce one meter of an intricate ikat pattern.
